It all began in 1990 when seven church-goers at the Community Church of Greenwood had the vision to create a similar church closer to home, in Columbus, Ind. These individuals joined together with Tom Long, a pastor with the Missionary Church, and began preparations for a new church plant.
The first crowd in 1990 included nine people meeting in the Long’s home. By the end of the year, the numbers reached 40-50 regular attendees who met at IUPUC. Tom served faithfully through May 1994 after which Chuck Coleman, associate pastor at Community Church of Greenwood, stepped in as our interim pastor before serving full-time in July 1995. Chuck is a graduate of Asbury College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and completed his doctorate through Northwest Graduate School of the Ministry. Pastor Chuck's ministry experience includes youth ministry, missions and counseling.
In June 1993, the congregation purchased 8.4 acres at Rocky Ford and Marr Roads with construction of our first facility beginning in the spring of 1997. We celebrated our first worship service in the new facility on November 30, 1997. Since then, CCC has experienced continued growth and recently celebrated our 25-year anniversary as a church now of around 1,200 in regular attendance.
